Hidden Business News

The UnderReported Side of Media Topics
In the United States, the economic downturn triggered an increase in employee-owned businesses, but that fact is not widely reported, according to truth.org.

And consider Afghanistan:
The public does not immediately think entrepreneurial in connection with that country, but many people might be surprised to learn about the Afghan cell phone company founded by an entrepreneur in the past ten years, but we don’t hear about it.

However, more inhabitants in that region have cell phones than those who know how to read or write, says Professor Philip Auerswald author of Coming Economic Prosperity: How Entrepreneurs are Transforming the Global Economy.

Lesson: The media presents narrow selected topics, and often negative. Begin to investigate the full picture behind any news story by asking three questions: What else is there to know about this topic? Is there another side? How do I find out?
