The Musical Niche of Lin-Manuel Miranda

Energetic interview on Charlie Rose last week
with Lin-Manuel Miranda underscores the artist’s
innate ability to perceive and communicate
in creative ways using
music despite a lack of
formal training.

That Miranda is wired to see the world through the
language of music is evident.  For instance, as a student
, he would create musical collages on tape and present
them to fellow students as a way to interact and
convey his personality.

And Miranda reveals that writing Hamilton’s life
story as a hip-hop vehicle was not innovation rather
the historical material was already well suited for the genre.
